Framing of Israel and Palestine Conflict in the Elite Press of Saudi Arabia and United State of America
Abstract
There is a longstanding conflict between Palestine and Israel. This issue is not only complex but also involves the attraction from the power blocks of the world. The world leading countries have taken very clear and supportive stance between the two parties. It is evident that most of the world powers e.g., USA, EU, UK support Israel. The sympathies of most of the Muslim countries and others like South Africa supports the Palestine stance, whereas, China and Russia play their role in the context of world power dynamics. The recent clash that emerged between Palestine and Israel is to the Israeli effort to neutralize Hamas and combat
capabilities in northern Gaza and now focus on central and southern regions of the Gaza. There is indeed a great humanitarian crisis has emerged in the area. There huge number of death tolls and injuries. There is also a food crisis and difficulties
for support and aid operations. This research is based on framing theory and studies the KSA and USA elite press regarding the Palestine and Israel issue. Three frames i.e., Human Interest Frame, Conflict Frame, and Religious Frame are analyzed concerning three categories i.e., Favorable, Unfavorable, and Neutral. The results show that along all three frames i.e., Human Interest Frame, Conflict Frame, and Religious Frame, Palestine has gained more favorable support in the elite press of USA and KSA. The results have multiple implications with respect to theory and communication studies.
